2010 Wilson Reunion

June 25-26 the descendents of Dixon L. and Elizabeth Wilson of Attala Co MS gathered in Ridgeland, MS for our 4th family reunion in recent years. Kinfolk came from Washington, California, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Mississippi, Missouri, Georgia, South Carolina, Maryland, Oregon, and Texas. There were 61 attending. This year's affair was coordinated by Saranell Dickerson with assistance by Judy Hand.

The primary gathering site for overnighters was Embassy Suites in Ridgeland, MS just north of Jackson and within sight of the historic Natchez Trace Parkway. We missed some of the regulars from years past but bonded with several newcomers. Every family is blessed with at least some quality folk but we Wilsons have them in abundance.

While the whole event was one long highlight with fantastic fellowship there were times of special gathering and sharing. On Friday evening most of the bunch gathered on the huge patio-deck of Burgers & Blues in north Jackson. There a distant kinsman of Butch Hand along with his talented band entertained the overflow crowd with quality bluegrass music. The primary together event was Saturday lunch at AJ's restaurant near our hotel. The occasion was marked by showing of the video made at the last (2008) reunion in Baltimore thanks to the technical expertise of cousin Donny "Sonny" Barton. Interesting and entertaining family stories were shared to the delight of all.

Pictures were made by grouping descendants of each offspring of Dixon and Elizabeth Wilson. Thanks to Webmaster Sonny the pictures are posted here on the family website for all to enjoy. We hope all will visit the site periodically for relevant family information including future reunion plans. Our gathering was wrapped up with the now traditional singing of "Amazing Grace".

Plans were made for our next reunion which will be held 2012 in Tupelo, MS (hometown of Elvis Presley) with cousin Sue Barton Thomas coordinating. The dates will be in early June so everyone is encouraged to reserve time on their calendars for joining us there.
